Checkerboards....

Today is another single layer card.  Quite a departure for me as I tend to like layers on my cards.  I recently purchased some stencils from My Favorite Things and decided today was the day for the test drive.  I used the checkerboard stencil and Stampin’ Up! chalks (now retired).  I taped the stencil down on the CS with washi tape and then took a cotton ball and applied the chalk.  I used riding hood red, tangerine tango and daffodil delight.  I liked how this turned out.  The red ended up more pink which is why I used pink twine.  The sentiment was a freebie from Lawn Fawn.  All in all, I am quite pleased with this card.  Easy to make but nice to look at I think!

Sorry for the darkness of the photo, it was the only way to show the checkerboard.  I am adding another photo to show the contrast.
