Happy Birthday!

Good day!  Occasionally we get to celebrate a birthday that is a milestone.  Sweet 16, 21, 30, 40, 50 etc.  My mom recently turned 80.  She didn't mind the birthday, just the number!  I, however, think it is awesome and was happy to celebrate it with her.  I recently had one of those milestones too.  In my family, we have several 30 year people.  My mom is 30 years older than me and I am 30 years older than my nephew.  If you can do math, you just figured out my age!  My brother is 30 years older than my other nephew.  Mom didn't want a birthday party.  Instead we had a 30 year party.  My nephew, mom and I went out to dinner.  One of the wiseacres that my nephew calls a friend, asked if I understood that I was always 30 years older than him.  That cracked me up!  Kids!  Here we go.....

I made this card for my mom.  I loved how the dies all worked together and then struggled with the numbers.  Not exactly how I envisioned but I liked it when it was done.  Most importantly, so did she!

I used Papertrey Ink paper for this card as well as their tipped tops dies and birthday die.  The button and twine were from my stash.  I can't remember where I got the cork but used an alpha die set from SU! (a retired set, I believe).

Thanks for stopping by!

Hi and welcome to my first post!  My name is Jane Knudsen.  I have been a stamper for over 20 years and a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator for 2 years.  I love the SU! product line but in the interest of full disclosure I will use other products from time to time.  I will note what I use at the end of each post.

I love to create cards, duh! Otherwise I wouldn’t be giving this blog thing a try! I hope to entertain you a little bit and inspire you to create!  Here we go….

For my first card, I thought the Stampin’ Up! Map It Out stamp set was perfect.  Welcome to Big Sky Country, the Treasure State, the Last Best Place!  Montana is a great place to live.  I was lucky enough to be born and raised in Montana.  Even when I moved to Idaho for a few years, I couldn’t wait to get back.  Ever been driving and have to roll down the window and shout out?  That was me, every time I went over Monida pass.  Dead of winter or not, I rolled the window down and gave a shout!  Nobody ever shouted back which is a good thing as I would have probably driven off the road!

This card is an odd size for me, coming in at 3½ by 5½.  I am one who generally sticks to the standard card size but because of the shape of the stamp, I didn’t want too much white space left on the card. I used the new memento black ink and a little real red for the X.  The card base is midnight muse (just retired today!), layered with real red and white cardstock.  Throw a little midnight muse ribbon and a real red button on and you are done!

Thank you for stopping by today to see what I made.  Please be sure to stop back again!
