Last year I purchased the PTI stamp set Wonderful Words: Joy (and bought the die as well). I loved the musical notes on the word Joy. Today is the first time that I have gotten to use it. As much as I try to get Christmas cards done, I seem to be in the mode of buying Christmas stamp sets rather than actually using them!
I recently came across the Merry Monday challenge. It is a great way to build up your stash of Christmas cards and I figured that if I played along with that challenge and the Festive Friday challenge, I should have a healthy supply ready for Christmas. The challenge for Merry Monday this week was to use black, gold and silver. I spent some time letting those colors roll around in my pea brain until I remembered my joy stamp and die.
I used my Stampin’ Up paper brushed gold and brushed silver. It is absolutely gorgeous paper. I die cut joy 5 times out of each color and 4 times out of basic black. I stamped the joy sentiment on PTI white in memento black and then die cut that and stacked it on the 4 black die cuts. I love this trick of stacking the dies together to add dimension. I learned this technique quite a while ago and have used it several times.
I continued the color requirements in the layers deciding on the brushed gold as the top layer. I used SU! silver bakers twine that I separated the silver strand from and wrapped around the o in the gold joy. I opted to cut the natural twine short and leave the silver bits loose. I added the retired SU! jingle bells to the twine as well.
Thanks for stopping by today!!
