Stamp-a-faire - Runway...

My favorite card for the Stamp-a-faire has to be this one, with my shaker as a close second.   I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to use for inspiration for this card.  But one of the Project Runway clips that was on PTI blog was Sean Kelly’s rain dress.  This was the coolest design and totally deserved the win.  Watch that clip HERE.

So I decided I would make my own version of that dress.  I used the new brushed off stamp set to make my own streaks on white card stock.  I used three colors that I spotted in that dress and then added the blue as a lark.

The sentiment fits the rain dress perfectly – this dress could be mimicked but never replaced.

Now it is time for the finale!

Stamp-a-faire - Make It Work...

For this challenge, we were to keep our scraps and make a card with the leftovers.  When I was working on the threads challenge, I was originally going to do a blue color scheme.  So I had cut a piece of the blue leafy pattern paper and matched it up with some solid cardstock.  I ran the solid CS thru a vineyard impression plate because I thought they would be a good match.  Well, they were but just not for what I had originally intended.

I added a thread nest (I am getting pretty good at this), the sentiment and some rhinestones.  After I had this all done, I realized I had meant to make the sentiment be the “make it work” sentiment that was in our SAF kit.  Nuts!

Next up – the runway challenge and then the red carpet!

Stamp-a-faire - Pins+Needles...

For this challenge we had the option of using stick pins, machine stitching on a card or stamped stitching.  I opted for the stamped stitching as we had received a stitched stamp kit as part of SAF.

I opted to make a small flower garden and was following pattern 9 from patterns challenge.  However, once I got my flowers done, I decided to make the sentiment look like it was growing in a garden too.

I kept the card fairly simple and layered it up on some matching cardstock and kraft paper.

The next challenge is supposed to be the runway challenge – but because this is my favorite card of the day, I am going to do the make it work challenge next!

Stamp-a-faire - Unconventional...

My favorite challenge on Project Runway is the unconventional challenge.  I love the idea of using materials completely contrary to the fabrics that the designers normally use!  So we were charged with going to the hardware store and finding materials to make a card.  Budget - $10 max.

I visited my hardware store a couple of weeks ago and wondered around for a while.  (FYI – this hardware store has its own version of Swatch – a yellow lab!)  I already knew two things – one – I was going to make a shaker card and two – I already had some free birdseed from my aunt that was going in the shaker card.

I found some jute, cork, washer type things (obviously the technical term!) and paint chips (free).  I spent a total of $4.02.  I didn’t end up using either the cork or the jute.  Getting the paint chips added one more sure thing – it was going to be an ombre shaker card.  The first pocket got the birdseed and some of the washer things, while the second layer had seed beads and washer things.  For the top pocket (makes me hum the hot pocket tune), I die cut the word hello from a paint chip and glued it to the chip I was putting in the shaker and then added the seed beads and washer things.

When I got it done, I realized that it was too big to go on a card – so it is a stand-alone shaker.  The only thing I wish I had done differently was to use the bag that I put the washer things and cork in for the shaker bag.  It was a thick plastic and would have worked pretty well.

Next up – I am on pins and needles!

Stamp-a-faire - Mix+Match...

So I skipped the accessories challenge.  I just couldn’t get into it at all.  In fact, I ended up quitting early because I just lost my mojo.  So I watched the rest of the challenge videos, taking notes and then sketching out my ideas.

I got up bright and early this morning and busted out the rest of the challenges and decided I would post them all at the same time.  So here we go.

After the accessories challenge is the mix and match challenge where you could mix patterns or mix colors.  I was excited for this one and picked the mix patterns because I don’t combine patterned paper very well!

I pulled out three of the patterns from the mood mix and set to work.  I cut three randomly sized papers and adhered them to a base of white cardstock.  I added a thread nest (which turned out better on this project than the one I made for that challenge), rhinestones and a sentiment that I white heat embossed on black paper.

I quite liked how this came together!  Next up…the unconventional challenge!  Super excited for this one!

Stamp-a-faire - Threads...

I am back with my entry for the Threads challenge.  It didn’t take me too long to make the card, but I sure seemed to find a lot of other distractions to keep me from getting it posted!

I used copper thread for my challenge which I thought paired well with this orangey paper.  But it is kind of hard to tell that from the pics.

Next up – accessories!  (which I may skip and move to the mix and match!)  I won’t be posting any more tonight – I plan to finish up the other challenges tomorrow!

Stamp-a-faire - Patterns...

Challenge number 2 is the patterns challenge.  We were provided twelve patterns to choose from and make a card.  I chose pattern number 5.

I used a bit of our mood fabric aka patterned paper and added a strip of cardstock to separate the pattern from the white cardstock.

I die cut the word happy in four colors that I stacked together and made them a bit off center to mimic a little of the ikat pattern.

Next up – threads!

Stamp-a-faire - Bridal...

Hello!  Today I am joining Papertrey Ink in their fourth annual Stamp-a-faire!  This is my fourth year as well and I look forward to it each and every year!  Things kicked off Friday with a t-shirt challenge which I didn’t do.  But this morning things started at 5 AM my time!  I did not start at 5 AM!!  I got a chance to get started on the first challenge before I had to run and watch my niece play volleyball – way more important!

But I am back now and have completed the first two challenges so I thought I better get these posted before I moved on to challenge number 3.

The theme this year is Project Runway!  Love it!  Love Project Runway!  The first challenge is the bridal challenge.  I have seen many a failed PR bridal dress so I hope that my card does not end up in the bottom three – ha!  The challenge was to use all white with the only color being a neutral for the ink.

Www.seejanestamp.com pti bridal 2 (640x304)

I stamped the twig wreath in black to create a focal point and then added the die cut bride and groom.  These were die cut several times and then glued together to add some much needed dimension due to all the white.  I added the sentiment and was done.

Off to the next challenge – patterns!

Stars At Night...

Its Friday so today’s post will be short and sweet!  As it should be because we are all happy to see the weekend!

Www.seejanestamp.com pp 1 (561x640)

I am playing along with the Paper Players sketch and came up with this fun little card.  I used a piece of ombre paper to make the flag, some cardstock and other dsp for the stars, and added the sentiment.

A bit of bling and we are good to go!

Thanks for stopping in today!  Normally I am off for the weekend but I will be playing along with the Papertrey Ink Stamp-a-Faire this weekend so I will be posting numerous times throughout the weekend.  Because of that I am planning on a light week of blog posts with just two posts on Tuesday as that starts a new Retro Rubber challenge.  And because it is September 1 there is a new House of Cards challenge as well!!  I will see what the week brings as to how many posts I will have.  I plan to be back to my regular Monday thru Friday posting on September 7.

Have a great weekend!!
