Happy Monday! Today I am playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge and using the colors (teal, lime green and white) from the Color Throwdown challenge.

I am so excited about today’s card! I attempted the no line water coloring technique. And guess what – this is way easier than I ever thought it could be! I even water colored on non-watercolor paper!
I started by stamping the images in colors similar to what I was planning to use to watercolor. Then I used second and third generation stamping with the image. I found that by stamping the image off one or two times, I got a light enough image that would be hidden when I started to watercolor.

Then I used an aqua brush pen and distress inks to color. I didn’t fill the pen with water, rather I dipped the brush into water and loaded the distress ink into the brush. I could have used a regular paintbrush but the aqua pen was handier at the time.
Because of the color challenge I needed to use white paper. All of my watercolor paper is off white or cream so I thought I would give it a try on the regular white paper if I wasn’t too heavy handed with the water. And it worked really well!

After I was finished with the image, I ran it thru the linen impression plate, die cut it, added the sentiment and twine, and layered on the lucky limeade paper and white card front. I love how this turned out (and I only had to throw out my first two tries – third time was a charm!) even though the colors don’t look as tealy and limey as they should in the picture!
If you are looking for something new, give this a try! It was easier than I thought and does not take a lot of time to do! And now that I know how to do this, I am going to use the technique more often!
Thanks for stopping by today! Be sure to stop in tomorrow!
