August 2016

Happy Thursday! Can I make a pineapple relate to the Olympics? Why, yes, yes I can! Pineapples remind me of the costume that Carmen Miranda used to wear. She was an actress and singer who was very popular in Brazil and America. See? Brazil = Olympics. Mission accomplished – LOL!

Seriously, I recently bought this fun pineapple stamp and thought I would see what I could do with it. This card actually started out following a recent Freshly Made Sketches challenge but I felt like I veered off the challenge too much to enter it. So you get to see it today! aloha 1 (542x640)

I started by stamping the pineapple in yellow and then adding some orangey markings. I did a two tone top to it and then die cut around it with a stitching circle. I used some yellow twine to stitch around the circle and then backed the circle with some cork. aloha 2 (640x408)

I added the sentiment (which I know is Hawaiian and not Brazilian – LOL) and then attached to the card base.

That’s it for today! Thanks for stopping by and be sure to pop in tomorrow!

Supplies: CS: PTI white and cork. Stamps: PTI some like it hot. SU! back to basics alphabet. Inks: Memento black. PTI summer sunrise, bright buttercup, ripe avocado and spring moss. Other: PTI stitched circles. Twine.

Olympic Butterflies...

So as long as I am watching the Olympics – I thought I had better make a butterfly card for the swimmers! I am using the fun sketch from the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge.

I punched four butterflies out of different plaid papers. cts 1 (551x640)

I stamped the sentiment and then added the butterflies and curved their wings up a bit. Easy peasy. Clean and simple and I love the card! cts 2 (640x480)

It’s been exciting to watch the swimmers and see how they do!

Thanks for stopping by today! Be sure to pop in tomorrow!

Supplies: PTI white. MFT plaid patterns. Stamps: PTI bitty butterflies. Punch: SU! bitty butterfly.

Retro Rubber Challenge #44 part two...

Welcome to the second week of the Retro Rubber Challenge! It’s all about color – aqua and lime green to be exact. Aqua = water and lime green = Rio. I am continuing my Olympic theme by basically finding a way to make every card I post this week relate to the Olympics!

This card actually relates really well – with a beach towel! I started by using some distress inks to water color some sand. Then I attached different colored stripes to a white card base and added a mixture of twine for the fringe. rrcb 44 1 (536x640)

I did a bit of scoring on the beach towel, added a little wink of stella on the sand (it’s hard to see) and some bling. This would be a perfect little towel to use at the Copacabana beach that I keep hearing about. Every time they say Copacabana – I start singing the song! rrcb 44 2 (640x435)

And speaking of little towels – I think this one is about the size that the synchronized divers were using! It’s your turn! Be sure to play along with the challenge and link up your card HERE!

Thanks for stopping by today! Be sure to pop in tomorrow!

Supplies: CS: Watercolor paper. PTI kraft. PTI new leaf, Hawaiian shores, and aqua mist. Stamps: PTI flipping out. Other: SU! candy dots and rhinestones.

A Feathery Thank You...

I don’t know about you – but I have Olympics fever. It hits me every two years, sometimes in the summer and sometimes in the winter! I am watching the women’s gymnastics as I write this post and I am simply amazed at how crazy good all of the athletes are! These ladies look light as a feather as they are flying around the various events.

Thus, a perfect segue to my feathery card! I borrowed the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and the colors from the Color Throwdown. fms ctd 1 (535x640)

I stamped two feathers and then did a bit of splattering around the card. I adhered the card front to the base and then added the sentiment that I popped up a bit. fms ctd 2 (640x456)

Thanks stopping by today! Be sure to stop in tomorrow!

Supplies: CS: PTI white and kraft. Stamps: SU! lovely amazing you and what I love. Dies: PTI linen impression plate. SSS sketchy banner. Inks: Memento black. PTI Hawaiian shores and aqua mist.

Thoughts Of You...

I am sharing my favorite card of the week! A very clean and simple card but when I finished it, I just loved it! tropics 1 (640x560)

I stamped the leaf in two greens – ripe avocado and spring moss and then added the sentiment. I just love the font! tropics 2 (640x416)

Finally, I ran the card thru my trusty linen impression plate and was done.

Thanks for stopping by today! I am off for the weekend but will be back on Monday!

Supplies: PTI white. Stamps: PTI it’s the thought and tropics. Inks: PTI spring moss and ripe avocado. Memento black. Other: PTI linen impression plate.

Birthday Flowers...

You can never have enough birthday cards! And since my cousin just had her birthday and I almost missed it – I am sending this one to her! hb 1 (640x541)

I stamped the flower using several yellows. The base flower is daffodil delight, the darker color on the petals is crushed curry and then I added hello honey for the dots around the center. hb 2 (640x339)

The center itself is soft suede. I added a few leaves using first and second generation stamping, added the sentiment and some rainstones.  These would be perfect to duplicate and with different sentiments to have at the ready.

Thanks for stopping by today! Be sure to stop in tomorrow!

Supplies: CS: PTI white. Stamps: PTI painted petals and graceful greetings. Inks: SU! hello honey, crushed curry, daffodil delight, soft suede and old olive. Memento black. Other: Rainstones.

A Flamingo Hello...

I have a quick card that I wanted to share with you today! flamingo 1 (522x640)

I started by stamping a grid background and then adding a sentiment. I stamped the flamingo and then added some rhinestones and enamel dots. flamingo 2 (640x515)

See? Super quick!

Thanks for stopping by today! Be sure to stop in tomorrow!

Supplies: SU! white and soft suede. Stamps: SU! off the grid. PTI some like it hot and tropics. Inks: SU! soft suede. PTI hibiscus burst. Memento black. Other: SU! candy dots and rhinestones.

Retro Rubber Challenge #44...

Welcome to a new challenge at Retro Rubber! We have a color challenge this time – with two of my favorite colors – lime and aqua blue!

I started by watercoloring lime and aqua stripes on some paper and then made a couple of lime watercolored squares on some scrap watercolor paper. rrcb 44 3 (547x640)

I die cut two pears from the lime paper and added to the card front after die cutting it with a stitched rectangle. I added my sentiment (from my Wplus9 punny produce stamp set circa 2014) and then some candy dots and mini rhinestones. rrcb 44 4 (640x422)

I layered everything according to the sketch from the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge.

It’s your turn – bust out your creativity and make a card with lime, aqua and a neutral and then link it up HERE!

Thanks for stopping by today! Be sure to pop by tomorrow!

Supplies: CS: SU! crumbcake. Watercolor paper. Stamps/Dies: Wplus9 punny produce pears. Inks: salty ocean and twisted citron distress inks. Dies: MFT blueprint 20. Other: SU! candy dots. Mini rhinestones.

Thanks For The August House Of Cards...

Welcome to a new challenge at the House of Cards! This month our challenge is to have you use twine and/or these lovely colors on a card for us!

August 2016 Twine and or colors

It took some doing but I came up with a card I liked that incorporated both the colors and the twine. I started by stamping the large flower in sweet blush with autumn rose accents and the smaller flower (which you can’t see very well due to the sentiment) in autumn rose with sweet blush accents. I added the centers in bright yellow. hoc aug 1 (541x640)

To create my card, I die cut this dotted circle around the flowers then added the sentiment. For the sentiment, I stamped on white and used the washi label punch to create. I added a bit of twine because I was just feeling that it went well with the images and colors. hoc aug 2 (640x427)

I put everything together using the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

Be sure to play along with us this month! Just link up your card HERE!

Thanks for stopping by today! I have a full week of cards so be sure to pop in tomorrow!
