Thinking of AYSI...

It’s a new challenge at As You See It!  We have a recipe challenge to use a die cut, embossing, twine or ribbon, pastels and thinking of you on a card.

#269 2.25.2022

I die cut a piece of pale papaya and some white card stock.  I ran the white card stock through the timeworn embossing folder and added the twine before attaching to the white card base.

I stamped and die cut the flowers and leaves and adhered to the pale papaya.  I added the sentiment, attached to the card front and was done!

Retro Rubber Challenge 176...

It’s a new Retro Rubber Challenge!  It’s time for a sketch challenge.

RRCB 176

I started by die cutting three chairs in sahara sand, granny apple green, and misty moonlight.  I used some misty moonlight and sahara sand inks to create the horizontal piece that the sketch required.

I added some linen thread, the chairs and the sentiment (from my SU! colorful seasons stamps circa 2017) and was done!

Hedgies For AYSI...

It’s a new challenge at As You See It!  It is a fill in the blank challenge to name a favorite technique.  I have many favorites but went with coloring for this challenge.  Just like a lot of people, I find coloring very soothing!

#268 2.11.2022

I started with my happy hedgehogs stamps from SU!  I love me some hedgies!  I stamped up the scene and then used my alcohol markers to color away.

I fussy cut the butterfly and popped up on the card after die cutting the images and backing with some daffodil delight pattern paper.  I stamped the sentiment and popped it up as well.  Finally, I added some dots and was done.

Pack Your Bags...

I had time this weekend to make up a card that fits three challenges.  I am playing along with The Paper Players (theme challenge of love and friendship), The Card Concept (I was inspired by the colors to make my clean and layered card) and Sunday Stamps (that provided the sketch)!

I dug out my PTI pack your bags stamp set that hasn’t seen the light of day in a long while for the sentiment and used my dies to cut two pieces of luggage that I adhered to a white card front.

I die cut the card front and a piece of pattern paper and arranged them according to the sketch.  Finally, I added the sentiment which could be used for love or friendship.  This was a fun card to make but it was because these three challenges worked beautifully together.

Cloudy Rainbows...

I am playing along today with The Paper Players.  They had a tic tac toe challenge that I decided I couldn’t resist!

I chose the top row of rainbow, sparkle and die cut.  I decided to pull out some old dsp that seemed cheery and would give me bright colors to make a rainbow.

I die cut the rainbow out of real red, daffodil delight and lemon lime twist.  I used crumbcake and the dsp to make the umbrella and then used a bit of real red to go with the horizontal stripe of dsp.

I die cut some clouds and then put everything together and added the “raindrops” made of rhinestones for the sparkle.  I debated about the sentiment and thought I would go with a thinking of you.  We all need a little brightness to chase away the rain and clouds and see the rainbows!

A huge thank you to The Paper Players for being chosen as A Cut Above for THIS card and to The Card Concept for being chosen as Honorable Mention for the same card.  I was so surprised and honored!

Retro Rubber Challenge 175...

It’s a new Retro Rubber Challenge!  We are celebrating love this time with a theme challenge!

RRCB 175

I stuck with my clean and simple style and die cut three stitched triangles in coordinating paper.  Then I stamped and die cut a boxwood heart.  The stamps are from The Greetery Mini Boxwood Heart from January 2021.

I stamped the sentiment from Clearly Besotted Message Me (2016) on a piece of scrap, cut the ends and weaved into the heart.  I popped both the heart and sentiment up and was done!
