DT Call

A Bowl of Apples...

Happy Monday!  Today I made a tag.  Something I have not done in a while.  Why?  Well, I discovered a new challenge site that is all about tags.  So I had to play along of course!  The challenge is called Tag, You’re It!

I stuck pretty close to the inspiration with both the apple and the colors.  I used my PTI bowl of sunshine stamps to create a bowl of apples.  I stamped the images twice so that I could die cut “thanks” out of one of the images.  I die cut “thanks” several times in white as well so that I could stack the sentiment on the image for a bit of texture.

I added the die cut to the top of the apple bowl and then used my PTI hoop die to cut a hoop in kraft to put around the image.  I added a bit of twine and I was done.  This tag would be perfect on a gift for your favorite teacher especially as schools are letting out for the summer.

The Tag, You’re It challenge is also looking for design team members so I thought I would add my name to the hat.  Although I just discovered this challenge, I love making tags!  Other tags I have made can be seen HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE.

Flowers for The Card Concept...

Happy Monday!  Here we go for another work week!  The Card Concept challenge blog has issued a design team call and I decided I would go for it and enter.  Therefore, today’s card serves as my application for this design team as a clean and simple designer.

When I started this blog, I wasn’t really sure what kind of card maker I was.  Typically I was making cards as I needed them or for my card club.  But this blog has allowed me to stretch and discover that clean and simple is my design aesthetic.  I like the white space, am not opposed to a few layers, and like some buttons, twine or bling on my cards occasionally.  But when I add more, I feel like the design becomes forced and not pleasing to my eye.  I am envious of other crafters who can make what I can’t and do so effortlessly!

I must be in a floral mood lately so I searched thru the challenges to just about the beginning for challenge #4 – use a floral theme.  I cut a piece of rustic white cardstock and started with SU! always artichoke to stamp the stems, and then used second generation stamping to add the leaves in the same color.  The flowers were made using crisp cantaloupe for the petals and calypso coral for the centers inspired by the colors in the challenge photo.  These inks make beautiful flowers!  I drew black lines to emphasize the flowers and add interest.

I ran the card front thru my PTI linen impression plate and then popped it up on the card base of rustic white.  I am using the sketch (loosely) from CAS(E) this Sketch.

I hope you like my card today, I think it is one of my all-time favorites!
