Summer

Lemony Sunshine For AYSI...

It’s a new challenge at As You See It!  It’s a fill in the blank!  The thing I love most about summer is spending time with friends and family and enjoying a nice cold drink!

#304 7.28.23

I dug out my brand new Stampin’ Up! So Refreshing stamp set to make this card.  I stamped the images and then die cut them.  I wanted to use summery colors – yellows for the summer sunshine and purple for summer flowers.

I started with a light lemon lolly gingham background to set the scene.  Then I added a sprig of flowers and the cloth while layering everything else up.  What is your favorite thing about summer?  I look forward to seeing what you create!

Retro Rubber Challenge 211...

It’s a new Retro Rubber Challenge!  It’s a tic tac toe and I opted for emboss, die cut and beach.

RRCB 211

I started by stamping a post in crumbcake and then heat embossing the lines onto the post.  I added some sand and grasses to build the beach scene.  These are from Papertrey Ink’s fence line summer stamps from 2018.

I stamped a bucket, die cut, popped it up and added the sentiment (from PTI’s floating by circa 2022).  A beachy one-layer card – easy peasy!

Retro Rubber Challenge 209...

It’s a new Retro Rubber Challenge!  It’s a theme challenge to make a card with summer related stamps and/or paper!

RRCB 209

I started by stamping some lemons using my The Greetery Lemon Blossom stamp set from 2019.  The rest of the design team all went with a fruit theme so I had to follow along.  There is nothing better than a glass of cold lemonade on a hot summer day (unless it’s an ice cold beer!)!

Www.seejanestamp.com rrcb 209 1

I die cut the images and a cutout in the white card front.  I used parakeet party as my base and then added the sentiment and the die cuts.  A few dots finish the card!

Retro Rubber Challenge 161...

It’s a new Retro Rubber Challenge!  Get inspired by the picture – colors or images.

RRCB 161

I focused on the delicious looking purple ice cream firmly believing it has to be huckleberry ice cream.  That stuff is good!

Www.seejanestamp.com rrcb 161 1

I stamped the popsicle image from Reverse Confetti’s Let’s Chill stamp set from 2015.  I colored with my purple blends – making some wavy lines and stripes.  I added the sentiment and was done.

Retro Rubber Challenge 136...

It’s a new challenge at Retro Rubber and we are all about the summer!

RRCB 136

As I was getting ready to make my card, I noticed a couple of my teamies used flip flops and had the same sentiment so I made it a trio because I couldn’t resist!

Www.seejanestamp.com rrcb 136 1 (529x640)

I started by chalking a sun on the card base.  Then I die cut the flip flops and sunglasses out of fun colored paper and adhered to the card.

Www.seejanestamp.com rrcb 136 2 (640x425)

Finally I added the sentiment (from my PTI flipping out stamp set from 2012) and was done.

Retro Rubber Challenge #92...

It’s a new challenge at Retro Rubber!  We are all about summer for this challenge.

RRCB 92

I went with my usual super clean and simple.  I stamped a sun from the SU! Over the Rainbow set (2015) and added some sweet sunglasses (SSS Flip Flop Season – 2015) to it.

Www.seejanestamp.com rrcb 92 1 (568x640)

It’s a fun new challenge at As You See It!  It’s an interesting sketch so play along with us!

#153 6.30.17

I started by stenciling some small circles on my card stock and then cut the card stock apart before adhering to my base.

Www.seejanestamp.com aysi 153 1 (640x519)

Then I die cut two sets of glasses and used some silver card stock for the glass.  I adhered them to the card, added my sentiment and was done.

We Three Ships...

Today’s card was made for the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge. And it caused great debate over what I should call this post – We Three Ships or Sail On. You can see what I decided on above – lol!

I am calling these ships The Nina, The Pinta, and the Santa Maria. I remembered the names but had to google them to double check myself. It’s amazing what information sticks in your head from grade school! I believe my teachers would be proud!

Www.seejanestamp.com cts 1 (511x640)

So I die cut these ships and placed them on a wave that I cut out of a larger piece of beachy paper. I added the sentiment and was done with my card. Thanks to the Commodores, my earworm is Sail On. Go forth and sing my friends!

A HUGE Thank You to Cecile for choosing THIS card as the Queen of Clean at Freshly Made Sketches! I was shocked and thrilled!!

Retro Rubber Challenge #44 part two...

Welcome to the second week of the Retro Rubber Challenge! It’s all about color – aqua and lime green to be exact. Aqua = water and lime green = Rio. I am continuing my Olympic theme by basically finding a way to make every card I post this week relate to the Olympics!

RRCB 44

This card actually relates really well – with a beach towel! I started by using some distress inks to water color some sand. Then I attached different colored stripes to a white card base and added a mixture of twine for the fringe.

Www.seejanestamp.com rrcb 44 1 (536x640)

I did a bit of scoring on the beach towel, added a little wink of stella on the sand (it’s hard to see) and some bling. This would be a perfect little towel to use at the Copacabana beach that I keep hearing about. Every time they say Copacabana – I start singing the song!

Www.seejanestamp.com rrcb 44 2 (640x435)

And speaking of little towels – I think this one is about the size that the synchronized divers were using! It’s your turn! Be sure to play along with the challenge and link up your card HERE!

Thanks for stopping by today! Be sure to pop in tomorrow!

Supplies: CS: Watercolor paper. PTI kraft. PTI new leaf, Hawaiian shores, and aqua mist. Stamps: PTI flipping out. Other: SU! candy dots and rhinestones.

Retro Rubber Challenge #43...

Welcome to a new challenge at the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog! We have a fun anything goes with a summer theme this time! Just use anything summer and you are good to go!

RRCB 43

I opted to use this fun set from Lawn Fawn called Happy Summer. I have had it for a couple of years and have never used it!

Www.seejanestamp.com rrcb 43 1 (550x640)

I stamped the ants and sentiment. Then I added the watermelon and colored in with markers. I am using the sketch from this week’s CAS(E) this Sketch challenge to put it all together.

Www.seejanestamp.com rrcb 43 2 (640x302)

I added a bit of pink gingham, to remind me of a picnic, and a bit of pear pizzazz under the white. Plus I thought those colors also followed the look of a watermelon!

Now it’s your turn! Be sure to ink up something fun and summery and link up HERE!

Thanks for stopping by today! My posting will be a bit sporadic over the next few weeks. I plan to play along with the Papertrey Ink Stamp-a-faire day this weekend so I will be posting quite a bit then. But then it will be just a post here and there after that for a bit, so please bear with me until I am back to posting on a regular schedule.

Supplies: CS: PTI white and hibiscus burst gingham. SU! pear pizzazz and crumbcake. Stamps: Lawn Fawn happy summer. Inks: SU! old olive, pear pizzaz and melon mambo. Dies: PTI linen impression plate.
