Valentines Day

House Of Cards Shape Up Challenge...

Hello all! Today starts a new challenge at the House of Cards. This challenge is a fun challenge that requires you to make a shaped card and not have to get in shape!  LOL!  Use any shape but rectangles or squares!

2 HOC February 2016 shaped cards no squares or rectangles

So in honor of Valentine’s Day, I made a heart!

I started by die cutting a heart shape out of pink pirouette cardstock. Then I die cut a smaller heart out of white which I inked up a bit with real red, pink pirouette and a little white ink. hoc feb 1 (616x640)

I ran this heart thru my SU! happy hearts embossing folder to add some texture and then popped it up on the larger heart.  I stamped this cute sentiment and added it to the hearts along with some bling and a candy dot! hoc feb 2 (640x415)

Now it’s your turn – what shaped card can you make? Add it HERE!

Love Is In The Air...

Happy Monday! Today’s card is for the Freshly Made Sketches sketch. I thought it was a fun sketch and found that it was a bit more difficult to come up with something than I thought!

I started by using the heart clouds from the SU! Sky is the Limit stamp set and stamping a couple of them. fms 1 (566x640)

Then I die cut love three times and stacked them up. I added the rest of the sentiment and layered everything. fms 2 (640x509)

That's it!  A super quick post today!

Thanks for stopping by today! Be sure to pop in tomorrow!

Supplies: CS: SU! real red. PTI kraft and white. Stamps/Dies: SU! sky is the limit. Reverse Confetti lovey words and dies. PTI linen impression plate. Inks: SU! marina mist.

Two Valentine Hearts...

Today’s card is pretty CAS.  I played along with the  Sunday Stamps sketch and the Paper Players valentine theme.

I started by die cutting two sketchy hearts – one in blushing bride cardstock and one in blushing bride glimmer paper. This glimmer paper is beautiful but I am never excited by all the glitter everywhere! ss pp 1 (542x640)

I die cut a curve on some white cardstock and added the sentiment. I adhered everything straight to the card base and was done! ss pp 2 (640x407)

Thanks for stopping by today! Be sure to pop by tomorrow!

Supplies: CS: PTI white. SU! blushing bride and blushing bride glimmer paper. Other: SSS sketchy heart die and curved edge die. PTI linen impression plate. SU! filled with love stamps.

Notched hearts...

Happy almost Valentine’s Day!  Today is my last valentine card for the season!  I found a die from SugarPea Designs that cuts this wonderful heart journal card.  So I pulled out some of my dsp from the Simon Says Stamp February card kit and paired it with some SU! dsp to create this card. 7 (509x640)

I used my heart to heart punch from SU! to get these fun hearts and added a sentiment from a SugarPea Designs special delivery stamp set.  I had some valentine rub ons that I added under the sentiment for something extra.  Of course, a little bling never hurts either! 8 (640x378)

Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day tomorrow!  I am taking the weekend off so I will see you Monday!

Supplies:  CS:  SU! basic black and dsp.  SSS February card kit dsp.  PTI vanilla cream.  Dies:  SugarPea Designs notched heart journal and SU! heart to heart punch.  Other:  SugarPea Designs  special delivery stamp set.  SSS rub ons.  Rhinestones.

An argyle valentine...

I am not sure, but I think this may be my favorite valentine this year – well tied with THIS card (which was a Pals Paper Arts challenge winner!).  I love my argyle stamp set but largely ignore it – for shame!  But when I got it out for another card – click HERE to see that one – I have been thinking about how to use it for a valentine card.

First I ran the blushing bride CS thru my trusty PTI linen impression plate.  Then I stamped the argyle pattern with black ink and white embossed the lines on the CS.  I just love this color combo!  I repeated the process on white CS and die cut the word love.  I also die cut five loves out of blushing bride so I could stack them together. 9 (640x534)

I wanted the word to stand out yet blend in with the argyle pattern.  And I was pleased with the overall look – I think it tricks the eye a bit and causes you to do a double take.  I added the blushing bride roses from the artesian embellishment kit from SU! and a sentiment from PTI. 10 (640x417)

I hope you like this card as much as I do!  The photo really does not do it justice!  These grey cloudy days make it tough to get a good photo!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Be sure to pop in tomorrow, I have one final valentine to show off!

Supplies:  CS:  SU! blushing bride.  PTI white.  Stamps:  PTI a little argyle and keep it simple valentine.  Other:  memento black ink.  White embossing powder.  Roses from the artesian embellishment kit.

Sketchy heart...

As I mentioned last Thursday, I put my washi heart to good use.  I applied the washi sheets to white CS and then die cut with the SSS sketchy heart.  I also die cut the heart out of pink pirouette and rose red.  I put the washi heart inside the sketchy heart and added the bits of rose red for some pops of color. 3 (640x518)I die cut a washi arrow from RC and snipped it apart so that I could have the arrow piercing the heart.  After I figured where I wanted the heart and arrow, I added the sentiment which I white embossed and added a bit of bling.  Surprisingly, I didn’t use the linen impression plate on the pink pirouette! 4 (640x424)That is it for today!  I have some fun cards coming up Thursday and Friday.  And the Pals blog hop on Wednesday!

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:  CS: SU! rose red, smokey slate, pink pirouette and basic gray washi sheet.  Dies:  SSS sketchy heart and Reverse Confetti arrow.  Other:  SSS February card kit paper hug.  White embossing powder.  Rhinestones.

Fly me to the moon...

Happy Friday!!  This is a quick and easy card that I couldn’t resist making!  I bought this cute stamp and die set from SugarPea Designs called special delivery.  As soon as I saw the set I instantly envisioned this card!  Who doesn’t love paper airplanes? 1 (640x551)I used white CS (although it doesn’t look very white in the picture) for the airplanes and the top layer.  I also used my linen impression plate (surprise!).  I made good use of the SU! confetti heart border punch to make my hearts and glued them randomly to the card.  A few rhinestones to add some sparkle and a sentiment and I was done! 2 (640x387)I am off for the weekend but will be back next week with some pretty cool Valentine’s Day cards for you!  Thanks for stopping by!!

Supplies:  CS:  SU! real red.  PTI smokey gray.  Dies etc.: SU! heart confetti border punch.  PTI linen impression plate.  SugarPea Designs special delivery accents.  Stamps:  SPD special delivery.  PTI KIS valentine.  Inks:  memento black and SU! real red.  Rhinestones.

Two hearts...

I am super excited about this card!  I was planning to play along with the Pals Paper Arts Challenge this week and so set to work making a Valentine’s card.

I recently purchased this cool sketch heart from Simon Says Stamp and was going to combine it with my SU! washi sheets.  So I attached my washi to some white cardstock and cut out the heart.  But I couldn’t get it to look like what I wanted.  (side note – this heart will appear on a card next week so all was not lost!). 12 (518x640)So I grabbed the rose red and pink pirouette CS and cut out the hearts and ended up combining them like I did.  Love it!  I used my SSS sketchy banners die to add the sentiment and then a little bling.  I used my PTI linen impression plate to emboss the basic gray CS.  I love that linen ip. 13 (640x426)So a relatively easy card with maximum impact I think!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Be sure to pop over tomorrow!!

X's and O's...

Happy Wednesday all!

A quick and easy valentine card for you today!  I received my Simon Says Stamp February card kit the other day and fell in love with all the goodies.  The sad part is that you won’t get to see everything I made with it because I don’t have enough days to post it all! 3 (546x640)I started with a piece of dsp.  This pattern is difficult to see in the photo.  I opted to pair it up with the light brown and black CS.  I used black for the sentiments to coordinate with the black rub on stickers.  I black embossed the sentiment and wished later I had black embossed the X’s and O’s.  I added a bit of bling with the rhinestones because I couldn’t help myself! 4 (640x477)Thanks for stopping by today!  Be sure to pop in tomorrow!  And don’t forget the Retro Rubber challenge!  I bet a lot of you have some old valentine cards that could stand a re-do!

Supplies:  SSS February card kit and stamps.  Black embossing powder.  Memento black ink.  Rhinestones.

Retro Rubber Challenge #7...

It is time for another Retro Rubber Challenge!  Challenge #7 is the Flashback Valentine challenge!  What does that mean?  Simply dig out an old valentine and remake it!  Be sure to share both pictures on your blog but you only need to link up your remake!

I am going outside the box a bit on this challenge.  I couldn’t find an old valentine but I found this birthday card instead.  It had a lot of hearts on it so I decided it would qualify!  I can remember making this card like it was yesterday.  If yesterday was 5 years ago.  It took me about 5 hours to make.  Seriously.  And look at it.  Not my best work! 11 (522x640)

Here is my re-do: 9 (554x640)I kept the colors, the stamp set, and the hearts.  That is it.  But I love my new card!  I used the retired SU! valentine defined stamp set and the P.S. I love you stamp set for the card. 10 (640x558)On my first card I used a darker green but I pulled out the SU! certainly celery ink and used that instead.  I love that color!

This is a pretty quick and easy card but it is one of my favorites that I made for this valentine season!  Be sure to try your hand at this challenge!  Click HERE to go to the Retro Rubber challenge blog to get the full scoop!
